Q: What is a FAQ?
A: FAQ is an acronym for "frequently asked questions."
Q: Do I need to bring any vehicle documents with me to the MOT test?
A: No.
Q: Can I MOT my vehicle before the expiry due date?
A: Yes, 30 days prior to the expiry date. We would recommend that you test your vehicle as early as possible then if your vehicle should fail the test you have time to rectify the faults. VT20 carries a windscreen sticker, we would recommend you use this to remind you of the expiry date.
Q: My spare tyre is defective, will this fail the test?
A: No, currently the spare tyre is not a testable item. However, we recommend that it is replaced or repaired as you may need to use it if you one of your other tyres becomes defective.
Q: My vehicle has passed, does it still need a service?
A: Yes, The MOT test is not a substitute for regular servicing and maintainence. Passing the MOT
test does not mean that your vehicle will remain safe for the following 12 months.
Q: What is a VT20?
A: It is the MOT certificate.(pass) The certificate is your receipt for the MOT test.
It shows the information that will be held on the MOT database.
Q: What is a VT30?
A: It is the Rufusal of an MOT certificate (fail). It lists tested items that have failed the test.
Q: What is a VT32?
A: It is the advisory notice. Any recommended additional work will be shown on the advisory notice.
